Young Queens on The Scene: Mia's Closet Prom Event at Macy's Galleria

As you know, queens support queens. So, of course we were on the scene to capture the magical moments manifesting at Macy’s Galleria. This past Saturday, our honoree for our May Crowned Series event: Mia’s Closet, hosted a prom event for under privileged high school girls.

It was nothing but good vibes, hearty laughs and beautiful smiles as the lucky students were given beauty and fashion tips from the generous volunteers. As if an evening of pampering and glamorous treatment wasn't enough, Mia’s Closet had even more in store for the girls who each received their own prom dresses to take home.

Decidete Mujer, a nonprofit organization who specializes in advocacy, educational opportunities and social services for Latin women, selected most of the students. The gorgeous prom dresses were donated to Mia’s closet on behalf of the Houston community. It was truly was a philanthropic community effort with Macy’s Galleria setting the ambiance providing fitting rooms, make-up artists and a well-lit space that brought the event to life.

Being able to witness their excitement, gratefulness and joy made my day. It's always a beautiful thing when the community can rally together for a great cause, especially ones that impact the lives of our youth. Those girls will remember this day for the rest of their lives.

The dynamic that Mia’s Closet brings to the community of Houston youth, is admirable. The entire team is made up of charismatic and genuine-spirited people. Chelsea doesn’t just talk the talk but she walks the walk. By being a positive role model and setting an example that can be followed. Not only is Chelsea personable, down to earth and compassionate, she has a rather calm and gracious demeanor about her, making you feel at ease almost as if you’ve known her for years. Mia’s Closet provides a safe haven that builds up young adult’s self esteem and give them that boost of confidence they need to succeed.

Lending a helping hand goes a long way. Be apart of the action. Join us for our next Crowned Series event on May 4th. Well, until to next time. Remember to head your head up high and always wear your invisible crown!
